Inspiring Women in Indian Armed Forces
Indian Women had broken the stereotype by joining Armed Forces to serve the country. Women have excelled in Indian Armed Forces & made a successful career in Armed Forces inspiring others.
Let's look at few inspiring Women in Armed Forces -
1. Captain Tania Shergill - On 26 Jan, 2020, Captain Tania Shergill lead an all-male contingent in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
She is fourth-generation soldier. She joined Corps of Signal after passing out from OTA Chennai in 2017.
2. Sqn Ldr Shikha Pandey - Sqn Ldr Shikha Pandey is an officer in Indian Air Force & Indian Cricketer. In 2012, she was commissioned in Indian Air Force as a traffic controller.
She was part of Indian Cricket Team that reach the final in 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup. She had represented the country with honour & made a name for herself.
3. Captain Divya Ajith Kumar - Captain Divya Ajith Kumar is an officer in Indian Army. She created history by becoming the first Lady Cadet to be conferred with "Sword of Honour", which is awarded to best cadet.
She led all women contingent of 154 women officers & cadet during Republic Day 2015 Parade.
4. Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi - Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi became the first woman fighter pilot and created history. In 2018, she became the first Indian Woman pilot to take a solo flight in Mig-21.
On 9 March, 2020, she was awarded with Nari Shakti Puraskar by President of India.
5. Sub-Lieutenant Shivangi - Sub-Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is an officer in Indian Navy. On December 2, 2019, she became the first woman pilot of Indian Navy.
She was commissioned in Indian Navy in 2018. She completed her operational training on Dornier Aircraft at Kochi, Southern Naval Command.
They are many more Women in Uniform who are inspiring younger generation, especially young women to come forward and join the forces or do something for the country. They are inspiring young girls of this nation to break the stereotype & make her country proud.
